RUSSIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Can a foreigner learn Russian at the HCMS?
A new historic era, radical changes in the social-political and economic life in the world, Russia's participation in the work of "Big 8" and such intergovernmental organizations as the European Union and the Council of Europe, the establishment of long-term contacts "East-West" have made it necessary for HCMS to introduce among foreign language programs a special program for the Russian language with the content which would conform to modern requirements.
The HCMS presents "Russian as a Foreign Language" program which is offered to both foreign HCMS students and all citizens, businessmen and entrepreneurs from abroad who are interested in mastering Russian oral and written speech skills. This program opens up new prospects for broad economic, political and social-cultural contacts with Russia under the conditions of world globalization and integration. It facilitates the cooperation and work with Russian companies and enterprises, the research and study of the economic potential of Russia and its markets, traineeships in Russian firms the learning process itself for foreigners at the HCMS and work placement in Russia.
The program has been elaborated on the basis of the international LCCI (London Chamber of Commerce and Industry) standard "Foreign Languages for Industry and Commerce - FLIC Russian". The Russian version reflects facts, realia, events, cultural, economic and social values of Russia, necessary for international business communication .
The program is represented on five levels (from preliminary to advanced) and is completed with a test/examination representing a highly practical face-to face interview with the examiner (a native speaker) and enabling the examiner to assess the candidate's ability to communicate in Russian both in the professional (business) and social surrounding.
The minimum number of learning hours for each of the levels is 120 L/H. At the request of foreign clients the school also offers short-term
intensive 2 week programs, "immersion" programs, summer and winter vocation programs of general and business Russian (the duration of the course is from two weeks to a month)/. The school also renders assistance in arranging cultural events in Moscow and other regions of Russia. Fees are to be agreed upon between the School and the Customer.
For the last few years the courses have been successfully completed by the candidates from the UK, Germany, France, Greece, the USA, Spain, China, Cuba and other countries.
